The Exchange Building, formerly home of the Siege Museum was re-opened as the Petersburg Visitors Center in July 2018.

The Exchange Building has been the home of many businesses and government agencies and in the most recent of iterations was home to the Siege Museum representing the Civil War during the Siege of Petersburg from 1864 to 1865.  The building is currently undergoing renovations and restoration and will incorporate all 400 years of Petersburg history when complete.  The Rotunda holds meetings for historical lectures, art gatherings, social events and government agencies such as the Department of Historic Resources and the State Review Board.
