The Thomson family offers a warm smile and vast knowledge to visitors who come to their 42-acre farm in western Dinwiddie County. Visitors are provided the opportunity to experience life on the farm, to immerse yourself in country living and taste what it’s like to live and work on a sustainable farm. This happy growing family of ten manages the pasturage and woodlands. They have pasture-raised goats and chickens, and an apiary from which their delicious and beautiful raw honey comes.  They also raise heirloom (non-hybrid reproducing) vegetables and fruits. The family’s goal is to be good stewards of the renewable resources which they manage, learning and implementing new ways to conserve water, recycle waste and add to the nutrient base of the soil.

Three-hour Farm Tours are available on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays at 11:00 AM. Each tour includes animal interactions and explanations of sustainable farming practices. You are then invited to join the family for a delightful and healthy lunch. Groups are welcome and school and nonprofit groups receive a discount. The Farm is closed on Saturdays.

Additionally, classes are offered at Misty Morning Sunrise Farm. There are bread making classes allowing each participant to make a loaf of Challah Bread, Beekeeping 101, and Poultry Processing. In the future multi-day comprehensive classes will be offered.
