Join Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia and Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation for a “Gossip and Grandeur in the Gilded Age” tea. The tea will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Magnolia Grange House Museum, 10020 Iron Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832. At this event, guests will enjoy a selection of teas, finger sandwiches, and sweets while Nancy Lowden of Maymont Museum speaks on the culture of the Gilded Age, to include the rules of polite society, the grand parties, and the tittle-tattle of the late 1800s. A tour of the house will follow. Presenter Nancy Lowden is Manager of Historical Programs at the Gilded Age Maymont House Museum in Richmond. She began her Maymont career as a volunteer making period costumes. Lowden has been on the staff at Maymont for 25 years and coordinates the costumed wardrobe for about 40 interpreters in addition to working on various programs and living history events that bring the turn of the 20th century to life.
